My midlife crises led me away from a 30-year career in research and strategy, back to university to undertake a PhD in Sociology, exploring the dynamics of The Antidote, an African upcycling collective based in Johannesburg. The study expands African Political Ecologies by including Aesthesis to expand the reach of the theoretical framework to the fashion sector, and weaves in diverse economies to explore how The Antidote engages with formal and informal markets. As an old, new scholar I have not published academically yet.
