Dr Idowu Diyaolu is a Reader in the Department of Family, Nutrition and Consumer Sciences, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria, with specialisation in Clothing and Textiles. He holds a B.Sc. and M.Sc. from the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, and a Ph.D. in Technology Management (Clothing and Textiles) from Obafemi Awolowo University. He complemented his formal education with professional certificates in Open Education (The Open University, UK, 2020), Sustainable Living (UNSSC, Italy, 2022), Artificial Intelligence for Teaching & Research (2024), and Basic Cybersecurity (2025). His research and capacity-building work centers on sustainable fashion, digital transformation of the textile value chain, inclusive skills development for women and persons with special needs, and AI-driven design pedagogy.

He is currently Principal Investigator/Co-Principal Investigator on four major funded projects supported by TETFund, Weave a Real Peace (USA), and WTO-ITC Geneva. He completed a DAAD Postdoctoral Fellowship (University of Leipzig, Germany/University of Ibadan), focused on inclusive work-based learning in textiles.

A passionate advocate for internationalization, he has participated in key global conferences in London, Manchester, Bayreuth, and Ghana (funded by TETFund, DAAD and York University, Canada). In 2025 he received the Microsoft/UK Nigeria Tech Hub Award for Best Simple AI Fashion Design. Dr Idowu Diyaolu is committed to modernizing African textile education through sustainability, digital innovation, gender equity and global partnerships.
